Random Autobiography (edited)
I was the expected Honor student, rich kid.
I was smart, sure.
Was I rich? No.
I am an island girl.
Chamorro is my ethnicity.
Or in simpler terms, Pacific Islander.
I was born and raised in Saipan, CNMI
I'm back here, in my home.
I learned to be
Thankful for what I had.
Not to wish for something
I know I can’t have.
I've held baby turtles,
fish,
and starfish.
I've heard waves
Crashing on the reef.
Seen fish
Jump out of the water.
I lost a flip flop once
Not the best idea
To leave them by the water.
I've taught my cousin how to swim.
my dad how to float.
I tell you sincerely I’m a good swimmer.
Come to me,
I’m a great fisher too.
I saw a baby shark
Swim right pass me.
I once screamed for help.
I was drowning.
I once jumped off a boat, into the water.
Twice I've scraped against the coral.
And only once have I ever been to the Grotto.
And twice I’ve been to Bantalon.
Jumped of it and in to the water maybe 30 times.
I have more than one swimsuit.
Well of course that's the case when you live walking distance
from the beach.
I bought a snorkeling set with fins and everything!
one for my sister too.
I will testify the beaches here are covered with white soft sand!
I've been scared of stone fish and eels.
They're venom is poisonous.
I have stories I could tell.
Legends of Taga, a strong, built man.
The smell of Plumeria Flowers.
As the wind blew.
I live in paradise.
I have eaten aliling,
That's what they call it in the chamorro language,
I don't know the English term, it's a kind of snail that lives on the reef.
I've felt the sting of a jellyfish.
I love the beach,
I can call it my home.
